Big Screen Entertainment Group Breaks Through at Cannes

Big Screen Entertainment Group's (OTC:BSEG) principals have returned from the Cannes Film Market, where the company made an impressive showing selling not only its own films, but also acting as a sales agent for other independent producers and their films.

The highlight of the market was the well-attended 35mm theatrical premiere of "Babysitter Wanted." In addition to closing several large foreign territories, including Lionsgate for the UK, the screening served to get the attention of reviewers from major horror magazines, one of whom in particular plans to give the film a stellar review, and provide in depth coverage in their publication. "The response was incredibly positive, and we couldn't be happier. We met over 50 buyers from all over the world and are continuing to close deals on our numerous titles," said BSEG CEO Kimberley Kates.

This was the inaugural film market for BSEG's new sales and distribution arm, THE INDEPENDENT FILM COMPANY, a joint venture with Boca Raton based Five Star Productions.

The new Company repped films starring Dylan Walsh, Shawnee Smith, Erika Eleniak, Gary Busey, Sean Young, Karen Black and Eric Roberts, to name but a few. Additionally, The Independent Film Company handled sales of all of Big Screen's library, including the Burt Reynolds comedy "Forget About It," the Jenny McCarthy/Carmen Electra starrer "Dirty Love," the Kelly LeBrock thriller "The Mirror," and of course, "Babysitter Wanted."

"This was our first market as The Independent Film Company; to have achieved such success is truly remarkable, and a testament to the hard work of our entire team, which includes the great people at both Big Screen, Five Star and Jalal Merhi, founder of Film One from Canada," said BSEG Senior VP Michael Manasseri.

Big Screen plans to have a US screening of "Babysitter Wanted" in the next several weeks, likely at Paramount Studios, the home of BSEG. Shareholders are invited to attend.
